Researchers at Eurac Research have been working for a few years on the idea of prefabricated and multifunctional facades that facilitate the energy retrofit of existing buildings.
Now within the SINFONIA project, 224 such façade modules have been used for the first time in two renovated apartment buildings in Bolzano. These wooden facades that save energy and reduce construction time. But researchers aren’t stopping there: the next generation of this facade is currently being studied in the laboratories of Eurac Research at the NOI Techpark.
The retrofit project was made possible thanks to funding from the European Union and the City of Bolzano/Bozen. Thanks also goes out to all those who collaborated in designing and implementing this innovation: Studio Mellano Associati, Officina di Architettura, ARCH + MORE, Studio Benedikter, EQ Ingegneria, Studio Tecnico Vettori, Giuseppe Glionna, Aster, Alpac, Isover, Südtirol Fenster, DOMICO, Chistè Impresa Edile, Carron Bau and Wolf Fenster.
