The city of Innsbruck, co-leading city in the SINFONIA Smart City initiative, has released a video to explain how the city will turn into a Smart City and present the innovative solutions to be developed within the SINFONIA project.
In Innsbruck, the focus is on the energy efficient refurbishment of social housing and schools. In that framework, 667 apartments should be renovated and two schools are currently being transformed in smart buildings. The main objective is to reduce the heat demand by 70 to 90% in these buildings, while increasing the share of renewable energy in the building’s final energy consumption. By the end of the project, 68% of the local district heating’s energy needs should be covered by waste heat and renewable energy sources.
